A Prepper is somebody who does their best to get ready for possible future emergencies. Survivalism is an international interdisciplinary movement of groups or individuals who actively prepare for possible disasters, such as possible disturbances in political or social order, on big scales from local to international. The Prepper believes that the present time is the most hazardous time in history and there is nobody better ready than they are to deal with the unexpected. Those who practice survivalism are called Prepper. In some cities there is Prepper Meetings where people talk about how they are preparing and ways they are preparing.
There are several Prepper groups such as Green Berets, Emergency planners, Self-sufficiency groups, and others that concentrate on prepping. A prepper might be someone who is getting ready for a natural disaster, somebody who is prepping for the economic collapse, someone who is getting ready for a pandemic, or someone who is merely trying to get ready for the unpredictable. There are several types of peppers.
There are preppers for natural disasters such as floods, drought, earthquakes, fires, cyclones, and tornadoes. There are also preppers for male made disasters such as nuclear meltdowns, oil leakages, and food shortages. Some Prepper groups even have Prepper Sets for different catastrophe types. For example, one kit may have survival equipment like knives, flashlights, and emergency situation food bars. Other sets might have water filtration tablets, blankets, and duct tape. However, the Prepper groups tend to stick to one type of kit, whether it is fire food, or water filtration, and use this just in case of emergency situation.
There are also Prepper groups for those who are “green” in nature, or simply those who want to be self-reliant. In this case, one has an interest in being gotten ready for anything from natural disasters to criminal activity or identity theft. One way of becoming self-reliant is by constructing your own home. In this case, one is preparing for disaster by building their own house, instead of counting on public or federal government resources. Other Prepper groups might focus on preparing for a catastrophe through using resources like emergency reaction groups, which have radios, products, and transport to get to people in need.
Of course, there are other methods of preparing for emergencies besides being self-reliant. Some preppers will take refuge in an area that is far from known catastrophes, such as a mountain retreat. Others will prepare in a city such as New York City, where they can have much better access to resources and security. In fact, there are Prepper groups that have staged a mock natural catastrophe in the middle of a city area, such as Times Square. In this case, they would set-up camping tents, disperse emergency situation food and water, and work out a way to survive till authorities can show up.
The Prepper mindset likewise consists of those who are getting ready for the worst after a significant disaster. They might have an interest in natural disasters that trigger fewer casualties, because they believe it will minimize the impact of their death, anyhow. Some may not be interested in getting ready for a nuclear attack, since they do not believe it would ever occur. Still others might not have an interest in getting ready for a collapse of a structure, because they do not think that our society would enable that to occur. However, these Prepper groups all have something in common: they are all practical and prepared for whatever Nature brings our way.
There are some things to readiness that are both nationwide and global. We need to all strive to live a “greener” lifestyle; that indicates taking actions to lower our carbon footprint and end up being more energy effective. This can translate to a reduction in fossil fuels used for energy, a decrease in the amount of garbage produced, and a reduction in the quantity of garbage that winds up in land fills. All of this prepares the environment for changes and makes our future much better for our kids than if we just continue to squander. In fact, it is the only genuine way to get preparedness up and running: living a “greener” and smarter way of life suggests being prepared for any scenario, no matter what Mother Nature brings our way.
Prepper take care of themselves by eating healthy, staying physically active, and practicing excellent individual hygiene. They also volunteer their time to help others in need, assist with tasks, and go to meetings to talk about existing occasions. They have an emergency situation package filled with basics like first aid sets, water, and medications. In addition, they keep an in-depth journal of whatever they do, so that they can evaluate the threat and prepare accordingly. This type of preparation is not just for the future, but also for today, and everybody should take it upon themselves to ensure that their family is gotten ready for whatever Nature chooses to bring their method.
